Round two of Pax East 2013!
PS I kind of screamed a little when I saw the Bane cosplayer. He really had the mannerisms down, and the muscle tone, and the facial expressions. I did not know I was afraid of Bane! I did not know this about myself.
PPS Don’t forget to check out rounds one, three, four, and five!

The Sylvari are pretty much my new favorite fantasy race. (My old favorite is hobbits. I still want to grow up to be a short, sweet, bare-footed luxury-loving big-hearted reluctant adventurer.)
One of the coolest details is that most Sylvari glow at night, aka circadian bioluminescence. In our world, that’s relatively rare, but the Sylvari Grove is carpeted, walled, and ceilinged with these subtle lights; it seems the Pale Tree is fond of that particular brush.
If transhumanism becomes a thing, I am totally going to glow. Just saying.
Short of growing light organs, you’ve got two options: UV reactive body paint, and phosphorescent body paint. UV paint comes in lots of colors, but the downside is that it will not glow except under blacklight. This is hardly an issue for an indoor larp, but if you’re a boffer larper, you might prefer phosphorescent. This is what’s usually known as glow-in-the-dark paint, and it all it takes is a little bit of time in the light to charge up; then you can go careening wildly through the night like the crazy plant monster you are.
0.5 oz Phosphorescent Cream via Cosplay Supplies. Only available in green. Ships internationally; no customs fees in the US or Canada. $9 USD
0.5 oz UV Luminous Cream via Cosplay Supplies. Comes in blue, green, orange, and white. Ships internationally; no customs fees in the US or Canada. $14 USD

Having Lord Faren as a friend is a bit like knowing Don Juan as a puppy. A codpiece-wearing puppy.
Maybe that metaphor could have been less weird.
In any case! He is such a dapper dresser, I compiled a list resources for those who aspire to imitate his lordship’s flamboyant looks:
Renaissance Padded Brown Codpiece by Celtic Creations. Ships worldwide. Satin. $10 USD
Round Bag by Medieval Collectibles. Ships worldwide. $12 USD
Medieval Trews by Medieval Collectibles. Ships worldwide. 100% Cotton. $33
Men’s Banded Collared Shirt by Clockwork Couture. Ships worldwide. 65% Polyester/35% Cotton Twill. $40
Red Ascot by Absolute Ties. Ships to the US and to certain other countries. $22
The toughest bit is Lord Faren’s doublet; it seems like your best bet would be to contact Twin Roses Designs or Morgana’s Collection and see if they’ll make you something. And send pics if it works!
